Our Lake Murex project has been one of our favourites to date. What started out as a flip project turned into a luxury vacation rental investment. This home was initially lost in the 1970's era of style and design, with a poor layout and tacky finishings. Just removing a wall in the former entry and kitchen area dramatically changed the feel of the home, and allowed for a more dynamic and open living space. We removed the plush, aged carpet to find original terrazzo floor, and were able to keep it throughout the home. Both bathrooms and kitchen were completely gutted and rebuilt. To take advantage of the beautiful lake views, we extended the outdoor living space with the expansion of the patio area and the addition of a free-form in-ground pool. When staging the home, we drew design inspiration from the unique Sanibel Island surroundings, and incorporated soft shades of blues and greys, and accents of weathered driftwood and sea glass.
